Cogent Consulting, LLC was founded in 2020 with a singular mission: to make academic research accessible, practical, and impactful for everyday decision-making. The idea emerged during a pivotal career transition for our founder, Dr. Faith Butta, who, after years in academia, noticed a consistent gap—academic knowledge was rarely applied in practice. Despite the wealth of research that could enhance operations, service delivery, and strategic planning, many organizations lacked the resources or expertise to translate that research into action.

Academic findings are often locked behind expensive paywalls, written in highly technical language, or too narrow in focus to be useful for the complex, fast-moving world of practitioners. Recognizing that most organizations don’t have internal research departments or the bandwidth to distill dense literature, Dr. Butta envisioned a consulting firm that would bridge this divide. Her goal: to create a space where research and real-world practice are not siloed, but integrated—working in tandem to produce smarter decisions, stronger programs, and measurable results.
